Join the music movement for our youth in Ontario California… the Ontario Youth Symphony, a special project of the Southland Symphony Orchestra, is now forming. 

  • The Ontario Youth Symphony and Wind Ensemble offers music students an opportunity to participate in weekly rehearsals in orchestral and wind ensemble settings. The youth symphony program has several ensembles to suit children at any level of music development along the way. 
  • The Ontario Youth Symphony and Wind Ensemble generally includes strings, winds, brass and percussion players. Keyboard, guitar and harp may also participate Emphasis is placed on orchestral/wind ensemble performance skills, musicianship, ensemble technique and repertoire building.
  • OYS believes that music is proven to enhance student performance in all academic areas.

We are happy to announce that our new SPRING 2024 SESSION is underway

  • Classes/Rehearsals are held at Bethel Congregational Church (536 N Euclid Ave Ontario CA 91762) as we continue in the Spring of 2024. Our class/rehearsal day is Wednesdays (late afternoon/early eve)
  • Full rehearsal sessions began Wednesday March 13, 2024.  Rehearsals continue every Wednesday through the end of May 2024, and we will present a concert at the end of May. 
  • Location: - Bethel Congregational Church 536 N Euclid Ave Ontario CA 91762 (SE corner of Euclid Ave and F Street)
  • Class times: CURRENTLY One Group from 4:45pm - 6pm (When we expand to accommodate more groups/levels, we may make some adjustments to meeting times)
  • OUR SPRING CONCERT will be presented on SUNDAY MAY 19, 2024 at 3pm at Bethel Congregational Church 536 N Euclid Ave Ontario CA 91762 (SE corner of Euclid Ave and F Street)
  • OYS Students are also expected to attend the Southland Symphony Orchestra Concert on Sunday May 5, 2024 at 4pm at Bethel. (OYS students and a parent or guardian are eligible for free admission to that concert.)
  • AUDITIONS:  Official Auditions for the Spring Session took place on Wednesday March 6, 2024, but Qualified students may join later in the session. They should simply inquire via email and fill out the Google Form (link below) or simply come to visit the class, and then we will set an audition time after class for official placement.

IF YOU ARE UNABLE TO COMPLETE THE FORM, JUST COME TO THE CLASS AND WE WILL PROVIDE A PAPER FORM FOR YOU.

TUITION: $150. Scholarships available (inquire via email - no committed students turned away)

*AUDITION REQUIREMENTS (for new students); Prepare scales (Beginners - 2 octaves, up to 2 sharps/flats; Advanced - 3 octaves, up to 4 sharps/flats) and a solo selection of your choice (If possible, prepare two selections of contrasting nature). There will also be a sight reading selection.

The Ontario Youth Symphony is a special project of the Southland Symphony Orchestra.

The Southland Symphony Orchestra uses the power of music to lift the human spirit. We engage, uplift, and educate the diverse communities of Southern California’s Greater Ontario and Inland Empire area by coming together to perform and inspire through exceptional musical experiences.

As part of the SSO’s mission, we are now building for the future, developing a full multi-level youth orchestra program, including orchestral and wind ensemble programs, at all levels from beginning to advanced ensembles.

We are happy to announce that we are partnering with the City of Ontario Recreation Department. Our classes will be held at the Veterans Community Center (at Veterans Memorial Park) 1257 E. D Street, Ontario, CA 91764.
